About Us
Dr. Mel Soicher Dr. Soicher was born, raised and educated in Montreal, Quebec. He has a Bachelors Degree in Physiology from McGill University. He completed his Doctorate of Optometry from University of Montreal in 1981. Following his graduation, he practiced for two years with Dr. Bill Prince in Miramichi, NB. In 1984 he opened his new office in Fredericton on Maple Street. Nine years later the office was relocated to its present location at 235 Main Street. In 2001, Dr. Soicher took over the practice of Dr. Tom Carton in Oromocto and since then has shared his time about 50:50 between the two offices. Dr. Soicher is married to his optometry partner, Dr. Marisa Blanchard, and has three children, Daniel, Jacqueline and Phillip. During the summer, you will see Dr. Soicher cycling all over the Fredericton area on his road bike. He even commutes the 25 kilometers between his two practices on his bike all summer long. In the winter, his interest changes to downhill skiing and most weekends you will find him at Crabbe Mountain challenging the slopes. Dr. Marisa Blanchard Dr. Blanchard was born and raised in Tracadie-Sheila, New Brunswick. From there, she continued her studies at the Universite de Moncton for three years. She went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry from the Universite de Montreal in 1981. Following her graduation, she practiced for two years with Dr. Bill Prince in Miramichi, NB. In 1984 she and her husband, Dr. Soicher, opened their new office in Fredericton on Maple Street. Nine years later, the office was relocated to its present location at 235 Main Street. Dr. Blanchard is married to her optometry partner, Dr. Mel Soicher, and has three children, Daniel, Jacqueline and Phillip. During the summer, you will see her walking the trails of Fredericton on a daily basis. In the winter, her interests change to downhill skiing and most weekends you will find her at Crabbe Mountain challenging the slopes. During the week, yoga is the exercise of choice. Dr. Bock |
